Sir Godfrey Newbold Hounsfield (1919 - 2004), 英国电子工程师。他设计了英国第一台全晶体管计算机和薄膜存储器，发明了计算机断层 X 射线成像技术（CT）， 并于 1973 年制成 X 断层扫描机（XCT）。X 断层扫描机改变了临床诊断的面貌，使医师能分层观察病灶的横断面影像。缘此他荣获 1979 年度诺贝尔生理学或医学奖， 成为第一位没有医学背景的诺贝尔生理学或医学奖得主。 该雕塑由广东梅县东山中学 83 级既 86 届（6）班的校友们集体捐赠。

Sir Godfrey Newbold Hounsfield (1919 – 2004) was a British electrical engineer. He designed the first all-transistor computer and the thin-film memory. Additionally, he invented X-ray computed tomography (CT) technology, and in 1973, he developed the first CT scanner. The CT scanner revolutionized clinical diagnosis and enabled doctors to observe cross-sectional images of lesions. For these achievements, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1979, becoming the first Nobel laureate without a medical degree. The sculpture was collectively donated by the class of 1986 of Meixian Dongshan High School, Guangdong.
