裘法祖 (1914 - 2008), 浙江杭州人，中国科学院资深院士。中国现代普通外科的主要开拓者、肝胆外科和器官移植外科的主要创始人、晚期血吸虫病外科治疗的开创者之一， 被誉为“中国外科之父”。裘法祖擅长腹部外科学及基础外科学，对外科其他分支：如脑外科、泌尿外科、矫形外科也有很高的造诣。其手术以精准见长， 被医学界称为“裘氏刀法”。裘法祖不仅医术精湛，且医风高洁，身受患者与同行爱戴。该雕塑由中山大学肿瘤防治中心黄文林教授捐赠。

Qiu Fazu (1914 - 2008) was a senior academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences from Hangzhou, Zhejiang. He was a pioneer in modern general surgery in China, with a specific focus on hepato-biliary surgery and organ transplantation surgery, and also contributed to the surgical treatment of advanced schistosomiasis. Qiu Fazu was known as the "Father of Chinese Surgery". He specialized in abdominal surgery and essential surgery, and was also highly skilled in other branches of surgery, such as brain surgery, urology,and orthopedic surgery. His surgical precision is known as the "Qiu's Knife Method" in the medical community. Dr. Qiu Fazu was not only a skilled surgeon, but also a man of high moral integrity who was beloved by his patients and colleagues. This sculpture was donated by Professor Huang Wenlin of Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center.
