区庆嘉 (1936 - 2017)，外科学家、医学教育家。广东东莞人，1960 年毕业于中山医学院医疗系。1980-1981 年赴美国进修。 长期任职于中山大学孙逸仙纪念医院，曾任中华医学会广东分会外科学会主任委员。区庆嘉教授在普通外科，特别是肝胆外科和肝癌的临床经验较多。在肝癌的外科治疗中，对非规则性肝切除和肝血管问题做过比较深入的研究。在肝手术中提出了在一定的条件下结扎肝静脉可保留所属肝段的新概念，并证明了其对处理肝肿瘤和肝外伤的临床价值。该雕塑由中国科学院院士、中山大学中山医学院院长、中山大学孙逸仙纪念医院院长宋尔卫院士捐赠。

Ou Qingjia (1936 - 2017) was a surgeon and medical educator born in Dongguan, Guangdong. He graduated from the medical program at Zhongshan Medical College in 1960 and went to the United States for further studies in 1980 - 1981. He worked for an extended period at Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital, and served as the chairman of the Surgical Society, Guangdong branch of the China Medical Association. Professor Ou Qingjia had extensive clinical experience in general surgery, particularly in hepatobiliary surgery and liver cancer. In the surgical treatment of liver cancer, he conducted in-depth research on irregular hepatectomy and liver vascular issues related to liver resection. Regarding liver surgery, he proposed a new concept, suggesting that ligating the hepatic vein under certain conditions can preserve the corresponding liver segment, and demonstrated its clinical value in the treatment of liver tumors and liver trauma. This sculpture was donated by academician Song Erwei, who is a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, dean of Zhongshan School of Medicine, Sun Yat-sen University, and president of Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital.
